One of the main focuses of this episode from “Informed” will be what programs are being implemented to help curb homelessness and stop the cycle of it occurring in families in the United States.
There are a myriad of factors that contribute to the reason why between 2.3-2.5 million people in America are homeless. These factors are things such as unemployment, lack of affordable housing, mental and physical illness, and substance abuse. One out of every 30 children is thought to be homeless in America, many of them seeking refuge on the streets from a bad or abusive home life.
The episode will also present to viewers the programs that have been set in place to help lower the number of people who end up homeless. Programs such as The Federal Housing Assistance Program put into place by the National Coalition for the Homeless. This organization is helping low-income families by providing them with affordable housing. Rob Lowe will speak with families that have utilized these programs and how they have improved their quality of life.
“Informed”, hosted by Rob Lowe, will distribute this fascinating episode to PBS Member Stations Public Television Networks.
